Aga Khan (Aga Khan Medical College) Introduction

Entry test for admission in Aga Khan Medical College is held every year. The entry test is conducted by Aga Khan University Karachi. Generally, Entry test is held in the month of March or April every year in different cities of Pakistan. Each year about 100 students are admitted to the MBBS program at Aga Khan.
After qualifying entry test candidates are shortlisted for interview. Short listing for interviews is based on combination of Secondary School achievement and the AKU Admission Test score. A student is eligible for admission into Aga Khan Medical College if he qualifies entry test as well as interview.

Test Format

The entry test has two sections: Section 1 on English with a total allocated time of 1 hour; and Section 2 on science and mathematics with a total allocated time of 2 hours and 15 minutes. Format of the two sections is given below,

Section 2: Science and Mathematics
Biology (20 MCQs)
Chemistry (20 MCQs)
Physics (20 MCQs)
Science reasoning (20 MCQs)
Mathematics reasoning (20 MCQs)
Total MCQs = 100
Time allotted = 2 hours & 15 minutes.
There is negative marking only for the Biology, Chemistry and Physics sub-section where every wrong answer loses 0.25 marks.

Eligibility Criteria

The students who have successfully completed or are in the process of completing their HSSC (FSc Pre-medical) can apply for the test.
Candidates following systems of education (i.e A-level) other than the Pakistani system will be required to submit equivalence certificate from the Inter Board Committee of Chairman (IBCC) in Pakistan.
The qualification must be equivalent to the pre-medical qualification in Pakistan.

The completed application form should be posted by registered mail or sent through a reliable courier service to address prescribed on application form or delivered in person to the Admission Office in AKU Karachi.

What is NMDCAT?
  • The Medical / Dental Colleges Admission Test (NMDCAT) is a standardized admission test which is mandatory for admission to MBBS and BDS programme in all public and private sector medical and dental institutions according to the regulations of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC). It is a two and a half hour (150 minutes) paper based test that is offered once a year. The test is administered by the University of Health Sciences (UHS), Lahore, on behalf of the Government of the Punjab. PMC is responsible for producing and marking the test, and also facilitating an extensive province-wise centre network at which the candidates can sit the test.

I am a Foreign Pakistani. Can I apply for admission against seats reserved for foreign candidates?
  • Hello Candidate, if you are applying against reserved seats for the Children of Overseas Pakistanis then you have to submit the documents that are given below.
    An employment certificate (on Form-VIII) of Parents or a Guardian of candidate in a foreign country issue by the Pakistani Embassy. Form-VIII can be downloaded from our website or can be obtained from the undersigned Office.
    A photocopy of resident visa of the Parent/Guardian of applicant that is attested by the Pakistani Embassy in that country so, you can apply for NMDCAT Test.
How can I get prospectus and admission form?
